Finding Beautiful Stock Images For Your Brand

Beautiful imagery is an integral part of great branding. You might make fabulous products or offer amazing services, but if your Instagram feed and website are littered with substandard pictures and amateur photography, you’re sabotaging your brand and doing your business a huge disservice.

Finding and using the right images is something that I see many small businesses struggle with, and this is usually due to one of two reasons:

  1. They don’t have the budget to hire a professional photographer, so they end up doing their own photography
  2. They don’t know where to look for stock imagery that reflects their brand’s aesthetic.

Professional photography doesn’t come cheap, so I can definitely empathise with the first scenario. If you sell physical products, I definitely believe it’s worthwhile investing in a professional photo shoot, however it might be best to wait until cash flow is steady and you have a consistent influx of customers before you take that leap.

If you run a service-based business or are simply looking for additional imagery to support your own on social media platforms like Instagram or even your website and marketing material, there are amazing stock photo resources out there that can help support and elevate your branding.

My favourite resources

For free stock images (yep, free!) my favourite resources are Unsplash and Pixabay. They offer high quality, high resolution photos that are free for personal and commercial use - and not a cheesy-looking stock image in sight.

For paid stock photography, I usually head over to Stocksy, Etsy or Creative Market. Overall I find the stock photo bundles on Creative Market to be the best value as your can usually download a selection of 20+ images that feature consistent styling and lighting, which makes for a more cohesive aesthetic across your social media and marketing platforms.

My favourite Creative Market sellers offering feminine stock imagery bundles are Kate Max Stock and Twigy Posts. If you post a lot of images and are always in need of fresh new pics, a subscription-based stock service might be the best option for you and your business - my favourite is Haute Stock, which offers very reasonable quarterly and yearly subscription rates.

I hope this post has been helpful and given you an insight into sourcing beautiful stock imagery for your brand. If you have any questions shoot me an email or pop a comment below and I’ll do my best to help you out.
